Welthungerhilfe in 2014, we know the transformative power of ideas and what it takes to bring them to life. Over the years we have also developed a strong reputation for strengthening and deepening local participative social innovation processes and championing the role of the third sector in radical system transformation discourses.
We champion and advocate for a just and equal world, and spend all our time harnessing the superpower abilities of social pioneers, innovators and civil society leaders to fast track radical system transformation. Being a fast growing social start-up ourselves initiated by
Sounds fabulous good luck
What a great concept - you are earning while you are learning - which is typically one of the barriers that prevents access into formal education.
I love this idea! Education that shifts consciousness toward ecological and social awareness and draws inspiration from/is guided by traditional knowledge systems is so necessary today. Who will the 'students' be? I have seen other activist schools, such as EarthRights School, bring together a wide range of students from diverse communities. It would be interesting to see how you integrate and navigate any potential conflicts that may arise when bridging across so many intersection points (western / traditional, rural / urban, host / migrant etc), in order to maintain the safe space.
I’m a big fan of this living university idea - it sounds like a biodiverse and healthy learning ecosystem (rather than the learning hierarchies of traditional universities). Since humans are organisms we should function like organisms in a natural ecosystem... this learning web idea would be absolutely amazing. Well done guys!
Fabulous idea
Never ceases to amaze me that the most powerful ideas are often the simplest! Some wonderful ideas of art- tradition-intellect in a lovely entanglement.
This is an inspiring concept. I am really impatient to see the practical realization of it. It will be a revolution considering the context we are in, particularity for women in the rural areas.
This concept will give an opportunity to all, particularly women who never in their lives attended formal educational institutions due to social and cultural restrictions. A university established and run by community will revive women’s dream to learn for themselves, engage with others and share experiences, realize their potential and break the dogma that women are the second class citizens in the country by involving in income generation activities. Living university is in fact living a dream all over again.
High minded lateral thinking
Through this concept, communities are able to raise their voice and get their rights.
It’s a social innovation project that mirrors well the initiatives in this direction that are now taking place globally in emerging spaces e.g. The Theory U Social Presencing labs, etc. Well done!
The concept is fantastic. Marginalized people are empowered to raise their voice.
An intriguing concept that values the importance of immersive and experiential opportunities.
Love the growth possibilities out of the eco brick!
Reminds me a bit the concept of Green Colleges: train rural youth in green trades, combining traditional wisdom with scientific techniques to help them become ‘ecopreneurs’ and to enable them have better access to technology, finances and market. "Food for though" or "Thought for Food" :) May be certain elements might fit their as well.
It’s “food for thought” isn’t it? Or “thought for food?”
Awesome idea!! Reawakening and supporting the oral tradition so many communities had in place. The tradition of open sharing and transfer from one generation to the next without putting a price tag on information and knowledge is one way to ensure accessibility to knowledge for all while creating sustainable development.
Great concept. The community can work together and manage it by themself.
Great idea, a "community" college, made and managed by the community, young and old together, great exchange platform.
Awesome idea! Look forward to it’s realisation - it’s the kind of innovation necessary to inject ownership and empowerment for education systems - which are currently in crisis!
